    Protest & Participate Safely

Lompoc Indivisible – PROTEST & PARTICPATE SAFELY

A big part of the fight against tyrannical takeover is to NOT let them take our joy.  We want to make sure the event is fun & safe for all of us, so we need your help to make that happen:

We don’t need a permit to protest on sidewalks, as long as we do not go on private property and do not obstruct car or pedestrian traffic.

What to expect: Cheers, Chants, Camaraderie, Community, Good Vibes, Music, Pompoms, Dancing, and new friends. See below for examples of chants.

Keep your eyes and ears open to make way for pedestrians to access crosswalks and wheelchair ramps at the corners.

When crossing the street at crosswalks, please be mindful to get across before the lights change so that we do not impede traffic.

Do not stand on or protest on medians.

We’ll likely get some shouts both FOR and AGAINST our protest from cars passing by, so expect that.

If anyone approaches the group looking for a confrontation, our rule is to walk away quickly.

When walking away, shout “TROLL!“ as loudly as you can to alert others.

This will enable people at a safe distance to video the encounter and will warn those around you to exit the area.

Do not engage physically with TROLLS.

Remember your sunblock; a sunhat is a great idea and stay hydrated. We’ll bring water in case you forget – but please let’s take care of each other out there so that we all have fun.

Make sure your phone is fully charged – for pics and video!

Wear your best protest / free speech / anti fascism shirts and comfy shoes

A backpack or fanny pack is better than a purse. Leave the purse at home or secure it in the trunk.

    Sample Protest Chants

    1 Hey Hey Ho Ho,

Trump and Musk have got to go!

    2 Rise Up-For Democracy!

3 Call: (Show me what democracy looks like)

Response: This is what democracy looks like.

4 Call: What do we want?

    Response: Democracy!

Call: When do we want it?

    Response: Now!

What to do if people try to engage negatively:

    • Ignore
    • Walk away/turn away
    • Hold up your sign in front of your face
    • Smile
    • Give a Peace Sign
    • Give an ASL I love you.
    • Give a heart sign.
    • DO NOT ENGAGE-THEY WANT A

           RESPONSE!

      DON’T GIVE THEM THE SATISFACTION!
